Francisco Javier Rodas Sanchez

Javier Rodas started playing viola as a nine year old in his hometown Almería (Spain), with José Vicente Ibáñez. He graduated with Natasha Tchitch at Musikene in San Sebastián. Currently studying at Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Francien Schatborn, he also received lessons from David Quiggle, Nobuko Imai, Karsten Dobbers, Marie Chilemme and Laurent Verney. 

Javier Rodas is very passionate about audiovisual art, arranging and interdisciplinary projects. He collaborated with ensembles such as Amsterdam Sinfonietta, the Antwerp Symphonic Orchestra and the Residentie Orkest. Furthermore, he is a member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and the European Union Youth Orchestra, and principal violist of the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra in Aix-en-Provence.

A former member of the Spanish National Youth Orchestra and the Youth Orchestra of Andalucía, he has also collaborated with the Netherlands Youth Orchestra, the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, the Youth Orchestra of Euskadi, the Wiener Jeunesse Orchestra as well as professional orchestras including Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, Orquesta Ciudad de Almería, and Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga.
