Noemí Fúnez Palencia

Noemí Fúnez Palencia began her viola studies at the age of five under the guidance of Carlos Albuisech and Keka Cano. She later entered the Federico Moreno Torroba Centre for Music Education, where she studied viola with Cristina Díaz and accordion with Esteban Algora and David Gordo. 

She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees with highest honours from the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in 2021 and 2022 respectively, having studied with Diemut Poppen, Laure Gaudron and Jonathan Brown. She received the diploma to the most outstanding student of her chair in 2020 and in 2022.

The Spanish violist received masterclasses from such musicians as Tabea Zimmermann, Hariolf Schlichtig, Lawrence Power, Antoine Tamestit, Máté Szücs, Joaquín Riquelme, Paul Silverthorne, and Pierre-Laurent Aimard. She took part in the 13th International Mendelssohn Summer School in Hamburg, the Summer Academy at Collegium Musicum in Pommersfelden, Encuentro de Música y Academia de Santander and the SommerMusikAkademie Schloss Hundisburg.

She collaborated with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid and the RTVE Symphony Orchestra.
