Riccardo Baiocco

Riccardo Baiocco studied at the Conservatory of Milan with Piermario Murelli. He obtained his master’s degree at the Haute école de musique de Genève in Switzerland, where he studied with Alberto Bocini. Currently the Italian double bass player studies in Germany at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim, with Petru Iuga.

Riccardo performs with several orchestras and was a member of the Sinfonieorchester Basel during the 2022/2023 season, the year in which he won the audition to join the Orchester Philharmonique Royal de Liège as double bass tutti.

As a soloist, he is the recipient of multiple awards in competitions that include the Giovanni Bottesini al Verdi di Milano, the Giorgi Contrabasso Competition, the International Anton Rubinstein Competition and the International J.M. Sperger Competition for Double Bass (Quarantine Challenge 2020).
