Selma Spahiu

Selma Spahiu was raised in Munich, where she took her first violin lessons with Aiko Mizushima and Jorge Sutil. She became a junior student at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, studying under Benjamin Schmid.

Selma joined the Federal Youth Orchestra of Germany and studied with Sophia Jaffé and Erik Schumann at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt. She attended masterclasses by Gerhard Schulz, Ingolf Turban, Mi-kyung Lee, Friedemann Eichhorn, Igor Ozim, Zakhar Bron, Vadim Gluzman and Daniel Hope.

She is currently studying for her master's degree at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin with Ulf Wallin.

The violinist has won several prizes in the Jugend musiziert competition. In 2018 she received the audience award during the International Queen Sophie Charlotte Competition and came second in the competition Inter Cordes in Paris. In 2020, Selma won first prize in the Valsesia International Competition.

As a soloist, Selma has performed with the Bavarian State Opera, the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra, the Jungen Sinfoniker Frankfurt, the Young Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Chursächsische Philharmonie and the Orchestra Antonio Vivaldi.

Selma plays a violin made by Enrico Rocca which was provided by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben.
